In my time working for the Dallas Zoo, I have gotten to work on a wide range of projects. This page highlights some of the other graphics that are now utilized throughout the Zoo.
Dallas Zoo Vehicles
I designed and oversaw the application of two van graphics for our Animal Adventures team. The Animal Adventures program allows people and organizations to schedule a 45-minute educational presentation featuring about six animals from around the world, including birds, mammals, and reptiles at a location off Zoo grounds.
The vehicle graphics were designed with several purposes and factors in mind. First, they help make the vehicle recognizable when it arrives on site for educational presentations, aiding coordination. Second, they serve as advertising for the program as the van drives through the metroplex and is parked at locations outside the Zoo. Finally, the simple designs allow the graphics to be more easily repaired if damaged during standard wear and tear on a vehicle. To counteract the need for simplistic designs, we used large, clear photos of some animals that the Animal Adventures program may bring to a presentation, creating a sense of wonder and curiosity about the animals and program.
Parking Garage Ground Breaking
In June 2024, we held the groundbreaking ceremony for the parking garage. The event was in partnership with the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, and many prominent members of the Dallas community and Zoo community were in attendance. The signage we produced played a big part in helping the event look and feel official and celebratory. We designed easel signage to display the renderings of the parking garage, and the stage backdrop featured the most impressive rendering we had, which helped display the scale of the new garage. For the groundbreaking photo opportunity, we placed Dallas Zoo logos on hard hats and had branded flutter flags to enhance the space.
Animal Identification Signage
I have made several types of identification signage for the animal habitats at the Dallas Zoo. I have created magnetic signage and IDs for large habitats that house multiple species or habitats that can only accommodate one animal at a time. I have also produced large static signs that clearly depict the animal and provide clear, easily legible educational information about the species.
Other Signage Projects
I have designed a variety of signage used around the Dallas Zoo. These projects range from large banners for visibility to graphics that enhance the visual appeal of the Zoo and raise awareness of Zoo experiences and opportunities. Read the captions on the photos to learn more about each of these projects.
